Miranda Modification ![]() This modification of the Miranda Class began with NCC-31911: the second Miranda class vessel to bear the name Saratoga. (The Saratoga was such a success that many of the older Mirandas were retrofitted with these modifications.) The most visible difference from the standard Miranda class is the lack of the sensor suite above the aft quarterdeck and the addition of protruding sensor/weapons arrays on either wing, just above the warp nacelles. Internally, the modifications are much more extensive, with compartments completely reengineered to accommodate new computer systems and sensor equipment. Overall, the Miranda Modification is quite different from the standard Miranda class, and in capability and performance, should be considered a class in itself, despite sharing a hull with the Mirandas.
